Though this is not a long song, its message is profound. It is the prayer of one who wants the fullness of the Gospel and will not settle for a comfortable Christian life. Revelation 10:9 is an invitation to consume–to intimately encounter and live off of–the Word of God. While the message of the Cross is both sweet and bitter, I do not want anything less than the fullness of the life Christ has called me to live.

I discovered this song while revisiting one of my most painful memories. Instead of avoiding the pain, I pressed into it with Jesus, and He met me there. While it is comforting to know that one day there will be no more tears or pain, I am also holding onto Psalm 56:8, which says God knows our sorrows and records all our tears. In Christ, no tears are wasted or shed in vain.

No one is too broken to come before God. In fact, Psalm 51 says the sacrifice God desires most is not tithes and offerings or a worship song but a broken spirit and a contrite heart. The wilderness Scripture speaks of is not just a place of trials and temptations, but it is also a place of transformation and true communion with God. God loves when we meet Him in the wilderness, because there we must fully depend on Him. One of the verses I am holding onto in this season is Song of Solomon 8:5, “Who is this coming up from the wilderness leaning on her beloved?”, because I desire to be transformed into the beautiful bride of Christ I am called to be—no matter the cost.
